SHOT-SHY AFC Telford United will play host to York City this evening having only scored one goal - a penalty - in their last five fixtures.

Marcus Dinanga’s spot kick, which earned the Bucks a 1-1 draw at Brackley, was preceded by a 1-0 defeat against Blyth and has been followed by toothless 90 minutes against Salford (0-3) and Kidderminster (0-2 and 0-0), even with former Premier League Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, now 31, playing in all those contests.

Ex-Matlock attacker Dinanga is fourth-bottom Telford’s top scorer on 13 goals but a tally of 14 on their own soil is still the lowest in National League North, aside from whipping boys North Ferriby.

A total of three home victories is also the worst in the division, discounting the Humberside villagers, who are yet to taste victory in front of their fans this term.

But Telford’s home form in all competitions is less shabby, with four triumphs in the FA Cup and FA Trophy meaning Rob Edwards’ men have won seven and lost only one of their last nine contests in Shropshire.

The only loss during that sequence came when Alfreton Town took the points following a 2-1 away win during mid-November.

A record of 39 goals conceded, meanwhile, is the best outside of National League North’s top-ten teams.

Jack Rea will continue to be sidelined for the Minstermen clash with an ankle problem, but fellow midfielder and former Bootham Crescent loan signing Jordan Lussey, who made one appearance for the visitors on loan from Bolton Wanderers during the torrid 5-1 home defeat to Accrington Stanley in 2015/16, is expected to feature.

Telford will tackle City lying just one place and one point above the relegation zone, but have played fewer fixtures than any other side in the division and have three games in hand on some of the clubs around them.
