YORK John Smith’s Ladies Darts League division one front-runners Tramways ‘A’ won 7-4 at Edinburgh following a spirited fightback.

The teams were level pegging at 3-3 after the singles, with Emma Frankland, Chris Lamb, Amanda Bevan winning for the home team and Tina Platt, Bev Harton and Jayne Janes replying.

Frankland and Bevan edged ‘Burgh ahead in the pairs, before Platt and captain Tracey Farmeary levelled and Harton and Janes snatched victory.

Second-placed Fulfordgate lost 7-4 at close rivals Burnholme, whose Sharon Neads got the ball rolling.

Despite replies from Dawn Exton and Michelle Britton’s two tons, ‘Holme pulled away with Caroline Whittaker, Sarah Jackson hitting a 138 and Jane Dobson.

‘Gate pairs Lynn Thompson-Britton and Exton-Muriel Britton set up a deciding leg, which was claimed by Whittaker and Lynne Willstrop.

Severus ‘B’ lost 7-4 at home to Priory. The teams were on equal terms going into the pairs, before Ann Anderson and Ellen Platt edged Priory in front and colleagues Di Moreland and Babs Harrison sealed victory.

Severus ‘A’ were 7-4 winners at Marcia, whose Joan Hunter, Barbara Russell, Faye Hawksby all scored before Jackie Simpson, Carol Robson and Sue Richardson levelled.

Simpson and Sheila Elliott put the visitors in front, only to be held back by Russell and Hunter, but Robson and Davina Shannon snatched the win.

Division two leaders Golden Slipper were beaten 7-4 at home by Leeman ‘B’, whose Louise Warren, Julie Oliver and Sal Richardson got them off to a good start, before Ann Parkyn and Doreen Johnstone closed the deficit.

Maggie Bedingham then restored the visitors' lead, and Brenda Dawe and Warren sealed the game before Slipper won the other legs as a consolation.

Second-placed Puss also suffered defeat, going down 8-3 at Leeman ‘A’.

The hosts raced into a 4-0 lead through Dawn Clarke, Margaret Yeomans and Debbie and Charlotte Witts.

Gemma Fletcher and Jackie Young gave Slipper hope, but Witts and Janet Nelson claimed the win.

Tramways ‘B’ claimed a big 9-2 win at home to Clifton Hotel, whose pairs Alice and Linda Turgoose and Sarah Evans and Elma Standing were the only winners.

Clockhouse lost 7-4 to visitors Burton Stone.

The teams were tied 3 – 3 entering the pairs, before Ellie Rankeillor and Lisa Benton edged ‘House in front, only for Burton pairs Marianne Deamer-Linda Embleton and colleagues Susan Barker-Sandra Pallister to secure match points.
