JON WOOLDRIDGE has ended Martin Lowe’s incredible unbeaten run in York & District Table Tennis League singles matches.

Coneysthorpe 'A' ace Lowe had not been defeated since losing to James Rule back in December 2013, a run stretching to almost 200 consecutive matches, including three full seasons.

Wooldridge, though, won all three of his singles matches, including against Lowe, as Topspin York beat the champions 8-2 in division one, James Atkins and Joe Wright also winning two each.

Three wins each from Filip Wojtkowiak and Nathan Horsley helped York RI 'A' hammer Coneysthorpe 'B'.

Andy Fletcher was man of the match as RI 'B' pipped Clarence 'A' 6-4. Peter Cowburn won three for University 'A' in a 5-5 draw with RI 'C'.

York RI 'D' went top of division two after beating Bootham 'B' 6-4 with a treble from Mark Blackburn.

Strensall 'A' remain unbeaten after a 5-5 draw against Bootham 'A', for whom Rich Harrison won three.

John Flintoft’s three wins helped Ryedale to their first win of term, 8-2 against Poppleton.

Graham Hatfield’s three wins could not prevent Clarence 'C' from losing 6-4 to York RI 'E', for whom Aidy McClaren and Lewis Harrison won two each.

Unbeaten Wigginton & Haxby 'A' have opened a nine-point lead at the top of division three after a 9-1 win over Clarence 'E'. Paul Halmshaw and John McLaughlin notched maximums.

Second-placed York RI 'G' edged Clarence CIU 'A' 6-4, while Shepherds 'B' beat Clarence 'D' 8-2 thanks to maximums from Paul Kozyra and Mike Surtees.

John Temple and Dave Hough starred as Strensall 'B' thrashed RI 'H' 9-1, while Chris Maude’s maximum saw Clarence CIU 'B' pip BT 'A' 6-4.

South Bank 'A’ got their first win in some style - whitewashing Clarence 'F' 10-0.

In division four, Ian Oxborough won three as top-of-the-table Wigginton & Haxby 'B' beat their 'C' team 8-2.

Shepherds 'C' were a player short but managed to overcome York RI 'I' 6-4 thanks to three wins from Nigel Baker.
