NEW Earswick IBC crashed 92-57 to Hornsea in the Egham Trophy.

Lynn Page, Kath Hardcastle, Bill Waldie and Colin Pickup were their only winning quartet.

They got off to flier and led 10-4 after seven ends and, while they only notched two singles at the next nine to go 18-12 behind, they rallied and won the last five for a 20-18 victory.

Moira Ellis, Carol Williams, Colin Ellis and Andrew Fothergill were 5-5 after six ends but scored only a two over the next 11 to trail 23-7. They won four of the last five ends but fell 25-11.

Both Earswick rings got off to poor starts in the away legs.

Irene Warrington, Monika Morgan, Bob Elliot and Gary Jones were 22-4 down after 14 ends and, while they finished the stronger, they lost 26-16.

Norma Davies, Majorie Watson, Dave Clayden and Kevin Liddell trailed 22-3 after 14 and, while they also finished the better, still went down 23-10.

Meanwhile, New Earswick hosted the England versus Scotland men's Test match - with a tartan team taking the spoils.

The format was the same as in the ladies the previous week, with the six-man teams playing two triples and three pairs on day one and six singles on day two, with all the matches being two seven-end sets with a one-end shoot-out in case of a draw.

England won both triples but Scotland completed a clean sweep of the pairs to lead 3-2 heading into the singles.

The Saltire were dominant on day two, winning all but one of the singles for an 8-3 success.
