STRENSALL’S Chris Quantock missed ten doubles before bowing out of the HappyBet European Darts Trophy to world number 39 Steve West.

Two-time World Masters quarter-finalist West profited from Quantock’s patchy finishing to secure a 6-1 victory.

Defeat meant the former Huntington School pupil missed out on a second-round clash with fellow Yorkshireman Joe Cullen at the Germany PDC European Tour event.

There was also disappointment for Quantock and fellow Minsterman Richie Corner at the Players Championship 21st and 22nd events at Barnsley.

Quantock suffered first-round losses to ex-BDO world champion Jelle Klaasen (6-4) and Aden Kirk (6-2), while Corner also fell at the opening hurdle against top-ten ace Michael Smith 6-3 and Spain’s Antonio Alcinas (6-4).
