YORK John Smith’s Ladies League division one front-runners Fulfordgate were once again victorious, this time winning 5-4 at Severus ‘B’.

Wendy Storr hit a 140 and a 100 for the hosts, with Sharon Mountain and Sue Gillon running ‘Gate close in the doubles, but an inspired Dawn Exton hit four tons to ensure that the visitors would not be overcome.

Anthea Jamieson, Amanda Bevan and Julie Stables gave Edinburgh a good start in their 5-4 win against Severus ‘A’. Davina Shannon and Jackie Simpson closed the gap in the pairs, but Bevan-Stables secured match points.

Burnholme made a strong start at Marcia, with Lynne Willstrop, Caroline Whittaker and Marj Pearson all winning legs. However, the Bishopthorpe team came back strongly, with a Faye Hawksby and Sharon Rishworth pair leg wrapping up an 8-3 win.

Tramways ‘A’ were awarded a 7-0 victory as Castle Howard Ox failed to field a side.

In division two, Golden Slipper beat Saddle Inn 7-2 to claim top spot - at least for the time being - as previous leaders Puss 'n' Boots did not play.

Title-chasers Leeman ‘B’ raced into a four-leg advantage in their 5-4 win at Clockhouse.

Maggie Bedingham, Brenda Dawe, Louise Warren and Heather Bulmer all won games for the visitors, before ‘House closed the gap going into the pairs through Lauren Tattersfield and Laura Gatenby, but they could not do enough to prevent Bedingham and Tracey Yeomans claiming the points.

Burton Stone have finally gotten off the mark, claiming the points in a 7-2 victory at Clifton.

Katrina Thackeray set the ball rolling as Stone powered their way to a 5-0 lead. Alice Turgoose bagged a 128 leg and an Angela Fletcher-Freda Harman pair doubled their score, but the remaining games belonged to the visitors.
