POCKLINGTON are still targeting their first North Premier win following a 61-26 home defeat against lively Kendal.

The hosts did, however, stick to their task right to end to claim a late bonus point.

Archie Fothergill (2), Dan Elliot and Sam Garvey contributed tries – all converted by Elliot – but Pock are still on a steep learning curve as they acclimatise to Level 5 rugby.

The Percy Road outfit should have scored three more tries and their Cumbrian visitors showed them the way by ruthlessly making the most of their opportunities

Lock Fothergill had drawn first blood to put Pock ahead midway through the first half following good work from wing Jack Walters, only for Kendal's pace and power to earn them three quick tries and a 21-5 interval lead.

The home team gifted Kendal another score at the start of the second half, before Walters paved the way for full-back Elliot to cross the line.

Pock then shot themselves in the foot, coughing up two interceptions on the attack for the visitors to pull clear.

Prop Garvey forced his way over as the deficit was reduced, but Kendal responded with a couple more tries.

A battling Pock went on to secure the try bonus, though, with a second touchdown from lock, which meant the difference between propping up the table and their current third-bottom position.

They now travel to sixth-placed Kirkby Lonsdale on Saturday.
