LEAGUE Cup holders Hounds got through the first round of this year's competition with a 6-1 win over division two side Haxby United as the new Fastpack Ltd York Sunday Morning League season got underway.

It was only 2-1 at the interval but the champions then went clear.

Sam Cable bagged a brace, with Tom Collins, Thomas Hogg, Shaun Heselwood and Luke Pearce also scoring. Harry Moorcroft replied.

Last year’s finalists, York Nomads, hammered FC Harrogate, a new side to the league, 11-2.

Cameron Mulhearn bagged four goals, Andy Simpson a hat-trick and Matty Mulhearn a brace. Samson Wildwood and Mike Hattee also netted, with Kai Shand getting both Harrogate’s replies.

Acomb Club, another new team, were just nudged out by division one side Brayton - on penalties.

The tie finished 1-1 after full time and 2-2 after extra time before Brayton won 6-5 on spot-kicks. Nick McBride, for Acomb, and Will Cleary, for Brayton, had both scored twice.

Wigginton Grasshoppers won 5-3 at Bishopthorpe CFC after flying 3-0 up through an early Tom Coates volley and a quickfire Jamie Willstrop double.

Bishopthorpe pulled one back before Willstrop completed his hat-trick. In the second half, Harry Clapham made it 5-1 before Bishops scored two further goals. Nick Fenton, Mark Sissons and Sam Cowley were the home marksmen.

Two second division sides with new names, Rawcliffe United (formerly Rawcliffe Crusaders) and Burnholme (formerly Beeswing), met, with United winning 3-0 thanks to goals by Nathan Lister (2) and Sam Lappish.

Mikey Stannard's first-half goal saw NUR pip Bramham 1-0, while Bubwith Swans won 6-2 at Thorpe United, having led 3-1 at half-time. Swans' goal-getters were Elliot Precious (3), Jamie Sedman (2) and Colien Vause. Reece Stronach bagged both of Thorpe’s goals.

Wentworth edged new team King's Head 2-1. Diego Perdesci and an own goal saw Wentworth progress. Sed Christian replied.

Two promoted sides met, with Hambleton beating Selby Olympia 3-0 thanks to goals by Galen Hill (2) and Kane Snelson.

The pick of the three division two games saw Atlanta thrash fellow new team White Horse 12-1. James Ford hit four goals, Ben Lambert three, Ben Parker two and Matty Andrews, Dan Smith and Ryan Lamb one each.

York Medics likewise hammered another new team, K Town United, 11-2. Alex Renwick hit four, Greg Chambers three and Elliot Jones-Williams, Matthew Fortnam, Robbie Britland and Jasaren Grewal one each. Sam Wilson and Alex Shaw responded.

Two more new boys, Walnut Tree and Clockhouse, drew 4-4 in a thriller.

Finlay Scott, Steve Smith, Jordan Coulson and Chris Walters netted the hosts, and Dylan Howlett (2), Bradley Walters and Callum Alko for Clockhouse.
