POPPLETON have retained the Division One trophy in the IT Sports Mixed League with a win against York Seconds, led by the unbeaten Robbie Greenall and Belinda Turnbull and well supported by Nikki Rohlfing and Sue Peach.

The runners-up spot is wide open after York stay second and Wigginton third, just one point behind after both teams beat relegated Heworth and Dunnington seconds.

Rufforth stay second, despite losing to David Lloyd and York, who are one of five clubs who could still be relegated.

Bubwith finished with a draw against Bishopthorpe, leaving them, along with Poppleton, waiting for the results of re-arranged matches to learn their fate for next year.

Sherburn beat Poppleton by just two games, meaning that the bottom five clubs are covered by just two points, with all of them waiting for the end of August when all of the matches will have been played.

Sutton-upon-Derwent are the new leaders of Division Three, with Louis Los and Vicky Bland unbeaten after their win at Wigginton.

Cawood ended their year with a win against Alne, and ensuring their divisional status but leaving Alne in a three-way battle after Fulford closed the gap with a two-game win against Stillington, despite the best efforts of Tim Madgwick and Liz Burdett.who won 26 games.

Wigginton lost their final Division Six match against promotion rivals Wilberfoss, who put in a good team performance and will now have to wait while new leaders David Lloyd, who took the points against Appleton Roebuck, finish their matches to see if they will be promoted.

Tom Hitchenor and Fenella Hobson won 25 games for Sutton-upon-Derwent in their battle against relegation, leaving adversaries Dunnington in an end-of-season scrap.
