YORK CC may get more than one opportunity to prove a point against rivals Yorkshire Academy this weekend.

The men from Clifton Park are currently 13 points clear at the top of Yorkshire Premier League North after suffering only one defeat in the first 12 games of the season.

Significantly, that solitary loss came against the Academy who are the development side for younger players at Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

The two sides lock horns again tomorrow in, potentially, the first of two meetings this weekend.

For 24 hours later, the two clubs will be involved in the Finals Day of the Hunters T20 Blast which is being staged at Scarborough's North Marine Road ground.

The two rivals will meet in the final IF York beat semi-final opponents Acomb and Academy beat hosts Scarborough.

With five complete wins from their last six games, York have been a model of consistency over the last two months.

In the last two games, Yorkshire pair Matthew Waite and Jack Leaning have both been among the runs with Waite hitting 90 against Sheriff Hutton Bridge and Leaning 154 not out against Hull.

However, both Leaning and Waite will be unavailable this weekend due to 20/20 commitments with Yorkshire. Joe Ashdown and Chris Booth are the likely replacements.

"It's another big weekend and we always seem to have really good games against Yorkshire Academy," said captain Daniel Woods.

"But Acomb will be up for it, too, on Sunday, and we don't take anyone lightly. The T20 Finals Day is a big day in the league calendar and we are really looking forward to it.

"We are playing some good cricket but we are still along way from where we need to be," he stressed. "We can't control how other sides around us are performing, we just have to concentrate on our own results."

Second-placed Stamford Bridge, the surprise package of the season, visit fifth placed Scarborough.

The bottom two clubs in the table, Easingwold and Clifton Alliance, go head-to-head at Back Lane.

Osbaldwick Cricket Club are staging a 'Big Reunion' game on Sunday to celebrate a double anniversary in their 119-year history.

The club, which now plays in Galtres division two, won the Premier division title 25 years ago and it is now 45 years since the club joined the York and District Senior League.

A number of ex-players have agreed to come out of 'retirement' to play in a 'President's XI v Chairman's XI' game which starts at 1.30pm on Sunday at The Leyes. A barbeque will provide hot food and all are welcome to attend.

The club's current players, meanwhile, will be in league action against Sessay tomorrow.
