BUBWITH have moved out of the relegation zone in the IT Sport Mixed Tennis League division two thanks to victory at Bishopthorpe.

Rob Jackson and Jill Rounce led the way with 33 games in a 71-37 success followed by Doug Smith and Liz Bramley (21 games) and Anna and Jon Longthorp (17 games).

It was only the second time in seven games that the first team had won this season.

Bubwith 2 completed a welcome double for the club against Tollerton in division seven; captain Liam Moore and Julia Barber winning 27 games.

Poppleton are now third in division two after not dropping a rubber against Sherburn. Matt Everatt and Rosie Cantrell out-scored John Anderson and Manon God.

Nick and Rebecca Turnbull led Poppleton to another win and they remain top of division one after playing York 2. Wigginton remain second after a victory at Dunnington 2 which included a winning debut for Ben Storey and Denise Crane.

Fulford’s Josh Beavers and Kelly Spry were the only unbeaten pair against Dunnington and climb above their opponents.

Tom Craddock and Wendy Cook ensured another win for leaders Fulford in division three against Wilberfoss. David Lloyd dropped to fourth after Nils Morosz and Kate Dance inspired Rowntree Park to a win, and Sutton upon Derwent moved ahead of David Lloyd on games difference after beating Wigginton by six games.

Riccall moved top-of-the-table after ending former leaders Appleton Roebuck’s perfect record in division four. Fulford stay third after Oli Lewis and Sarah Richards won 28 games against Dunnington.

Graeme Butcher and Laura Simpson ensured Copmanthorpe remain in the promotion battle after victory at Rowntree Park.

Alne moved into third place in division five after a close win against Cawood.

Bishopthorpe are level on points after wins against Fulford and York.

Wigginton lost their perfect record in division six after losing to Wilberfoss who stay above David Lloyd on games difference.

David Lloyd chalked up another win against a determined Appleton Roebuck team.

Draw specialists New Earswick shared the point with visitors Sutton upon Derwent to leave division seven wide open.

Andy Cuttill and Monica Haritakis won 30 games for Heworth and keep their team in second place after a win against Wistow.

Division eight favourites Riccall chalked up another win against Bishopthorpe.

The top four teams of division nine all won and are still separated by just two points.
