TONI SMALLWOOD threw two tons and gamed in 23 darts for second-placed Castle Howard Ox in the York John Smith’s Ladies' League division one - but it was in vain.

Ox were taking on Tramways 'A' and, although Sandra Bruce added to Smallwood's point, they ended up losing as Jayne Janes, Lauren Farmeary, Natalie Farmeary, with an 82 checkout on double 17, and mum Tracey put the hosts 4-2 up.

Lauren Farmeary combined with Gina Whittaker to secure match points for Tramways Bruce – Anne Bass narrowing the winning margin.

Sheila Elliott, with a 64 closure, stopped Severus ‘A’ from being whitewashed at a rampant Fulfordgate for whom Dawn Exton hit the tons and Michelle Britton closed 62 in the singles and 91 in the pairs with mother Muriel.

Burnholme won at Priory. Lynne Wilstrop and Sarah Jackson put them ahead and, although Di Moreland and Sallie Richardson levelled, Jane Dobson and Caroline Whittaker edged them ahead against and Whittaker/Jean West sealed match points in the pairs.

Jackson then threw a 180 but Priory won the remaining team games.

Edinburgh Arms' wins by Amanda Bevan, Emma Frankland and Chris Lamb were cancelled out by Leeman ‘B’s Brenda Dawe (69 checkout), Vicki Capes and Julie Oliver levelled but Edinburgh made home advantage count as they reeled off the remaining games for a 6-3 result.

Division two leaders Severus ‘B’ were taken to the wire by visitors Clockhouse.

The teams were all square entering the pairs and Lisa Benton/Rose Gray gave House the advantage only for Sharon Mountain/Dot Sellers to level and colleagues Linda Goldsmith.Michelle Kelly to snatch victory. Sarah and Kate Rankeillor both hit two tons for Clockhouse.

Golden Slipper slipped into second place after a narrow win at close rivals Burton Stone.

Linda Embleton and Aleks Lis put Slipper ahead before Anita Adams, Ann Parkyn, Katrina Thackeray and Sandra Pallister gave the home team the advantage. A full house in the pairs saw with Sue Tate/Doreen Johnstone snatch victory.

Denise Pittock, Janet Nelson and Dawn Clarke were Leeman ‘A’s singles winners as they entered the pairs on level terms with visitors Tramways ‘B’.

However, Flossy Crampton/Wendy Sullivan, Becky Thompson/Linda Staveley and Karen Alton/Georgina Clayton gave the visitors a clear win.

Clifton registered their first win of the season at Shoulder of Mutton.

Sandra Flintoft and Gemma Coulson won for Shoulder before Alice Turgoose, Angela Fletcher, Cris Turgoose and Sarah Evans put the visitors 4-2 up. Fletcher/Elma Standing sealed the victory in the pairs and Alice Turgoose/Cris Turgoose later added a point, sandwiching a reply by Kirsty Limbert/Lisa Russell.
