GREAT Britain's Lucy Edmunds reached the final of the double scull at last weekend's European Junior Championships in Germany.

Edmunds, winning her third international call-up, finished sixth alongside doubles partner Beth Willford-Dutton in the event at Krefeld near Düsseldorf.

"We were delighted to have made the final especially as we hadn’t really trained together that much compared to most of the other teams," said the 17-year-old from York City Rowing Club.

"Our GB coach had warned us that the competition would be ferocious - so to make the final was a great achievement.

"It would have been brilliant had we won a medal but just to compete against the best in Europe, make the final, and gain more international racing experience was fantastic." she added.

"I’m honoured to have represented my country once again and it’s great to be able to put York City Rowing Club on the national stage."

Edmunds, who is studying 'A' levels in the sixth form at Huntington School, was also in the GB team which competed at this month's Munich International Junior Regatta.

She finished fourth, there, in a women’s quadruple scull and also won the 'B' Final in the double scull with partner Holly Dunford from Molesey Boat Club, London.

Last summer, Edmunds won a silver medal with the GB Junior Rowing Team girls’ quadruple scull at the Coupe de la Jeunesse in Poland
