YORK City have announced their first three pre-season fixtures ahead of the 2017-18 season - including a game against former Premier League champions.

The three friendlies - the first portion of the Minstermen's pre-season schedule - will take place at Bootham Crescent in July.

On Wednesday, July 12, at 7pm, City will host League One play-off semi-finalists Scunthorpe United.

On Tuesday July 18, Blackburn Rovers, who famously won the 1995-96 Premier League title under Kenny Dalglish, will be coming to Bootham Crescent for a 7.30pm kick off. Blackburn were relegated from the Championship to League One this year.

Then, on Saturday, July 29, with a 3pm kick-off, League Two side Notts County will make the journey north to take on Gary Mills' men.

Details of further home and away friendlies and ticketing arrangements will be announced in the coming weeks.

City have been relegated from the National League to regionalised football for the first time in their history, but they won the FA Trophy final last weekend, with Mills saying that Wembley win can start a "new chapter" for the club.
