HARROGATE and York will go into their top-of- the-table clash separated by four points after both secured victories on a day which saw their nearest rivals thwarted by the weather in the Hunters ECB Yorkshire Premier League North.

An unbeaten half-century by Jonathan Tattersall (55no) and 41 from skipper George Ross helped leaders Harrogate beat bottom side Easingwold at Back Lane.

The visitors needed just 14 of a possible 31 overs to reach a revised target of 122, losing just one wicket along the way. Earlier Nick Taylor had taken 4-21 as they home side reached 110-6 before their innings was curtailed by the weather, Matthew Turnbull remaining unbeaten on 35.

Skipper Daniel Woods took a hat-trick for York as they came close to claiming maximum points at home to Woodhouse Grange.

Tom Friend was left stranded on 78 when rain forced an early end to the home side's innings. The score of 128-3 included 31 from Duncan Snell.

When play eventually resumed the visitors were set 181 to win.

Nathan Saltmer made 42 before becoming the first wicket in Woods' hat-trick, and his return of 5-24 from seven overs left Grange’s last wicket pair needing to bat out the final four overs to deny the hosts, which they accomplished, closing on 154-9 to take two points from the contest.

Third took on fourth as Yorkshire Academy and Scarborough met at North Marine Road. Matthew Fisher, in this first appearance for the visitors this season, opened the batting and made 83.

Fisher shared a partnership of 168 with fellow opener Ben Ainsley who, having come close to a century on the opening day with an unbeaten 99, notched up his second Yorkshire League North career hundred with 103.

The home side fought back thanks to this season’s leading wicket-taker Ben Elvidge (3-58) and Jack Holt (3-48) as the visitors closed on 232-6.

Scarborough's reply lasted just a handful of overs before play was abandoned with their total on 7-1.

Stamford Bridge were left frustrated after they were denied a likely victory had four more overs been bowled in the match at Hull.

The visitors had looked to be in trouble as they slumped to 90-5 despite 47 from Will Rhodes, but Dominic Rhodes’ (101no) and Max Maciver (45) pulled the innings round to an imposing 270-7.

Hull then looked set for a fifth straight loss at 53-4 in reply off 16 overs when the rain came.

Neither of the matches at Acomb and Clifton Alliance reached the second innings as the pair shared the points with Sheriff Hutton Bridge and Driffield Town respectively.

Rob Pinder top scored with 77 at The Green as Bridge reached 147-4, and the visitors were on top at Clifton Park having reduced their hosts to 85-6.
