Alex Davies was caught behind trying to leave Sidebottom alone for 39 two balls after lunch as Lancashire slipped to 68-4 before Dane Vilas edged Rafiq behind for 29.
Vilas had shared 67 for the fifth wicket with unbeaten Shiv Chanderpaul, who has reached 50 for the 213th time in his first-class career.
Chanderpaul is unbeaten on 69 with Ryan McLaren on 18.
