YORKSHIRE have recovered from the early wickets of Adam Lyth and Alex Lees to reach 71-2 from 31 overs at lunch on day of the Roses clash at Emirates Old Trafford.

After winning the toss, the visitors slipped to 9-2 inside five overs as Lyth was caught at second slip off Tom Bailey and Lees bowled shouldering arms to Jimmy Anderson.

Yorkshire, however, have since advanced thanks to Gary Ballance and Peter Handscomb against a depleted Red Rose attack.

England Test bowler Anderson left the field midway through his sixth over with a suspected groin injury, meaning Lancashire are down to two specialist seamers and two spinners.

Ballance and Handscomb have shared 62 unbroken for the third wicket, reaching lunch on 39 and 22 respectively.

Meanwhile, Yorkshire have revealed that Travis Head will not be joining them for T20 this year due to Australia A commitments in South Africa. They are seeking a replacement.
