SHANE Goulding was named York RUFC's Players' Player of the Year at the club's Honours Cup dinner.

The number 8 scored 14 tries in his 21 appearances as York narrowly missed out on the play-off spot in Yorkshire One.

Outside centre Will Atkin was named 'Most Improved' player while Marc Benson won the NB Kay Cup for the player contributing the most on the field.

Chairman Mark Gronnow picked up the NB Kay Cup for the person contributing most off the field.

The second team's Player of the Year was Callum Houston and the most improved player Stefan Dziurzynski.

Former first team captain Matt Halifax was presented with a hip flask after stepping down as third team captain.

Halifax had spent 19 years with York and played for all the club's senior teams.

The third team's Player of the Year was won by Mark Harris for the second consecutive season. Piers McIntosh was runner-up and Andy Lee third.

Other awards went to Chris Clegg (Cavaliers Players of the Year), Drew Stephenson (Cavalier of the Year), Joe Simpson (Colts' Player of the Year), and

Jonathan Souch and Jordan Layne (Colts contributing most on the field).

The trophy for the 'Team of the Year' went to York RUFC 1st Team.
