POPPLETON United secured the York Minster Engineering League division one title following a 6-2 victory at York St John University.

The side, managed by former York City player Christian Fox, will make a return to the premier division after just two seasons away.

Luke Wilkinson, Rob Forrester, Alex Janes, Ben Brannigan, Tom Reid and Matt Malkin all scored for the newly-crowned champions. Poppleton's win at St John's also means that the students are relegated to division two.

Pocklington Town won 3-1 at home to Thorpe, confirming their second-placed finish, but will once again be denied promotion due to FA restrictions on clubs having two teams at step seven of the league system.

Pocklington also have a club entered in the top tier of the Humber League, which is at the same level as the York Minster Engineering League premier division.

Two Carl Shepherd goals either side of half-time and a Liam Goodwin strike gave Civil Service a 3-0 win over Stamford Bridge in division two.

A last-gasp goal meant that the division four title remains undecided as Wetherby Athletic and Malt Shovel fought out a 5-5 battle.

Jake Raistrick (2), Brad Hall, Chris Harkin and Ryan Glover bagged the Shovel' goals. The Selby side must now win at Huntington FC to secure the title, otherwise Wetherby will be crowned champions.

Stuart Harrison (2), Ben Shingler and Alex Hunton fired Pollington to a 4-0 win over AFC Crayke as the hosts completed their league campaign.

James Rowley hit a hat-trick for Bramham in a 5-0 win over LNER Builders. Ian Prendergast and Matt Lombard also netted.

In Reserve A, Church Fenton White Horse made the most of their chances as they gained a 6-2 win over Malton & Norton. Rob Hayes and Ryan Cooper were Malton & Norton's scorers in a game where the visitors were guilty of wasting several good chances.

Josh Cryer hit a brace for Easingwold Town as they beat Osbaldwick 3-2 in Reserve B. Lee Johnson also scored for the home side in a win which offers them an outside chance of promotion.

Cliffe gained a 5-2 win in Reserve C after putting Wetherby Athletic to the sword. Tom Grundy (2), Kieran Gallagher, Matt Birch and Aaron Lees were on the scoresheet.

Selby Olympia suffered a 6-2 home loss to Heworth Green, who can still secure promotion if they win their final two games. Danny Marshall (4), Calum Marshall and Luke Bradshaw netted in the triumph.
