NESTLE Rowntree took on Morley’s development team in the quarter-finals of the play-offs and laboured to an 18-11 victory.

Failure to secure the ball at the kick-off led to the first of many mistakes and Morley kicked the resulting penalty.

Trees charged upfield and scored two penalties courtesy of Jack Daniels, although they should also have scored a try from one of the breaks.

Trees put themselves in trouble and Morley took full advantage to score another penalty and an unconverted try to lead 11-6 at the break.

Scrum half Romain Cames nipped in to equalise for Trees at the start of the second half.

Trees took control and full back Mike Palfrey scored, with Daniels converting. Both sides then missed further opportunities in the final 30 minutes.

York RI started in their ‘usual manner’ and gifted Bramley seven early points in their Yorkshire Four clash.

Things got worse after 25 minutes when the visitors added a penalty to lead 10-0 but this stung RI into action. Darren Lonsdale made a great break to slip the ball to Franky Rossi, who scored in the corner. Captain Frazer Land fed Matt Hodgson to level the scores at 10-10 just before half time.

Rossi scored his second try, with Baptiste Brui adding the extras.

The visitors scored a try but RI added three more from Rob Joy (2) and Rossi, with Brui adding two conversions. RI won 41-15 and secured a bonus point.
