EASINGWOLD starlet Georgia Pipes just missed out on the medals at the Swiss Women International in Bern.

Representing Pentathlon GB, Pipes finished fourth in the Swiss capital, while team-mate Charlie Follett taking a superb silver medal – her first international medal – and Zoe Davison coming sixth on her senior international debut.

The trio had gone into the concluding laser-run holding the three podium places, but for Pipes and Davison, it proved their least favourite discipline.

The three Brits got off to a strong start in the 200-metre swim, with Wycliffe College’s Davison setting the pace in two minutes 13.72 seconds.

Twenty-year-old Pipes (2-19.69) and 19-year-old Follett (2-26.03) were also inside the top 10.

The competition moved onto the riding discipline where the trio produced clear rounds to pick up the maximum 300 points and put themselves in contention.

The fencing round proved positive, too. Bristol’s Follett led the way, topping the discipline standings on 17 victories and six defeats, with former Yorkshire Pentathlon Club athlete Pipes securing 16 victories and Davison 15.

It meant the Pentathlon GB athletes started the laser-run in first, second and third, with Davison heading Pipes and Follett.

Follett recorded the fourth quickest laser-run to claim the silver medal.

Pipes and Davison also performed well, but not well enough to hold onto podium places.
