LEADERS Pocklington can move a step closer to the North One East title with a ‘revenge’ victory over Dinnington tomorrow.

Currently seven points clear at the top, Pocklington visit second-placed West Hartlepool in eight days’ time.

Dinnington were the last team to beat Pocklington when the two sides met at Percy Road four months ago. That 21-19 defeat sparked an 11 game winning run but the dropped points could still make a difference in the battle for promotion to National League Three North.

Centre James Flint is likely to be away but Pete Massie is back in the mix after his late call up on the wing last time. Sheffield student threequarter Josh Britton is set to shake off a groin strain and Marcus Britland is added to the squad.

Malton & Norton club secretary Bill Laidler reckons the promotion and relegation issues in North One East will go down to the wire.

After a week off, M&N go to fellow scrappers Durham City tomorrow eager to return to winning ways after throwing away a 31-7 half-time lead against high-flying Penrith.

Maximum points would put the Ryedale club on the verge of safety with three games to go but Laidler has warned that more twists and turns are possible

“Victory this weekend would certainly help but that wouldn’t be it,” he said. “I think it will go down to the wire, both at the top and bottom. It’s quite a unique situation where everybody in the league still has something to play for, barring the two at the bottom.”

York RUFC will look to return to winning ways at home to Keighley in Yorkshire One.

Lee Denham’s side are now five points adrift of the play-off spot after losing 26-24 at Beverley last weekend. Struggling Selby’s game at home to nearest rival North Ribblesdale is a ‘must-win’ as their final three fixtures are against the top three clubs in the division - York, West Leeds, and Bridlington.
