YORK Round Table has donated £1,000 to Jorvik Boxing Club ahead of the club’s first show at Acomb Working Men's Club next month.
The money will help the community-based club fund the event on Friday April 14 and also secure much-needed kit for its boxers.
"We greatly appreciate the support from York Round Table,” said head coach Gary Kelly. "It will really help the development of the kids."
Jorvik Boxing Club has grown from just a handful of boxers under a year ago to hosting regular junior and senior classes at York Masters Boxing Club on Redeness Street.
"We are proud to continue our support in the local community with the donation to Jorvik Boxing Club and wish them well in their first event," said Charlie Lancaster, Treasurer of York Round Table.
The 16-bout show takes place on Friday April 14, 6pm, at Acomb Working Mens Club.
