CONEYSTHORPE 'A' are the champions of the Time Communications York & District Table Tennis League with games to spare.

They clinched their eighth successive title by defeating nearest challengers York RI ‘A’ 7-3.

James Rule and Martin Lowe - the finalists in the recent York Closed Championships - were unbeaten, as they have been all season.

Elsewhere, Mikey Arnold and Andy Fletcher led the way as York RI 'C' secured a fine 6-4 victory over Clarence 'A', while a treble from Jon Wooldridge proved decisive as Bootham 'A' defeated York RI 'B' 7-3.

Paul Young and Joel Wright contributed three wins each as a two man Coneysthope 'B' beat bottom team Clarence 'B' 6-4.

University 'A' are virtually certain of the division two title after convincing victories over Bootham 'B' (8-2) and Bootham 'C' (9-1), with Calum Goodwin undefeated in both fixtures.

Clarence 'C' are battling hard to avoid the drop but a treble from Ian Williams made the difference as they went down 6-4 to Shepherds 'A'.

Mark and Luke Blackburn were too strong as York RI 'D' crushed RI 'G' 9-1. Ian Hilton starred as Bootham 'B' beat a fading Poppleton 7-3.

A superb team performance by Tom Thorp, Ran Hood and Lewis McCarthy allowed York RI 'F' to secure their best win of the season as they edged out RI 'E' 6-4.

University 'B' clinched the division three title after recording emphatic victories over both York RI 'H' (9-1) and Clarence 'E' (10-0), with Frank Yankui and Jack Taylor contributing six wins each.

The battle for second place continues as Ryedale@RI defeated BT 'B' 8-2 while rivals Clarence CIU went one better, thrashing Shepherds 'B' 9-1.

A treble from Dave Simpson was the highlight of BT 'A's 8-2 triumph over Wigginton & Haxby 'A'. Naz Hosseinian picked up a brace for the villagers.

Clarence 'D' thrashed a depleted South Bank 'B' 9-1 and a maximum from Jason Chinnian was key as Bootham 'B' defeated Clarence 'E' 6-4.

After an excellent season, York RI 'I' look certain to clinch the fourth division title.

Mark Antrobus and Arthur Sorley led the way in successive victories against York RI 'J' (10-0) and University 'D' (8-2).

Third-placed South Bank 'B' thumped University 'C' 9-1 thanks to Adrian Church and Mich Slezak, but Clarence 'F' are clear in second as trebles from Russ Scott and Steve Wands contributed to an 8-2 win over University 'D'.

Wigginton & Haxby 'B' continued their improvement as Tony Fairburn, with three wins, supported by son Nathan, with two, helped them secure a shock 8-2 victory against an experienced Clarence 'G'.
