OSBALDWICK stunned York Minster Engineering League premier division leaders Wigginton Grasshoppers as they pulled off a shock 2-1 away win.

The result also handed a title-race lifeline to Dringhouses and Huntington Rovers.

There had been early signs that it would be plain sailing for the Mill Lane side, who dominated much of the first-half play but failed to create many clear-cut chances.

A warning from Osso then came just before the interval with Chris Bilton heading just wide.

After the turnaround, Tom Young saved well from Jamie Willstrop and, with Wiggy still pressing forward, an Osbaldwick long ball found Danny Penrose in acres of space and he produced a neat finish to put his side in front.

Wiggy responsded within the minute as Matthew Tiplady jinked through the area only to be felled and Gary Newton converted from the spot.

Despite this, the home side were dishevelled and only an excellent save from stand-in keeper Michael Ellis denied Bilton a near-certain goal.

However, when a loose clearance landed at Bilton’s feet 25 yards out, the writing was on the wall and the ball in the net, as Osbaldwick went on to see out a deserved 2-1 success.

Goals from Chris Smith and George Trifan gave a dominant F1 Racing side a 2-0 half-time lead at Dunnington.

The second period then saw some early threats from the home side extinguished before F1 pulled further ahead with a delicate finish from Adam Tiffany.

Chris Dempsey added the fourth before substitute Tom Kilvington rounded off the scoring with his first goal for the club.

Two second-half goals from Scott Preston gave Malton & Norton a 2-0 home success over Church Fenton White Horse, whilst Old Malton St Mary’s triumphed 3-1 at home to Tadcaster Magnets.

In division one, Cliffe gained a surprise draw at title-chasers Pocklington Town thanks to a brace from Chris Jackson.

Despite goals from Tom Reay and Jack Anderson, Pock could only manage a 2-2 draw which saw Poppleton United move a point clear at the top after a 5-2 success at Tockwith.

Goals from Jonny Moss and Dave Hartas gave Rawcliffe a 2-1 victory at York St John University.

Tom Wordsworth bagged a hat-trick for Heslington but his side lost 6-3 to Thorpe United.

Nathan Parker enjoyed a four-goal haul with Eddie Wileman and Leon Wood also finding the net.

Wilberfoss extended their lead at the top of division two to seven points following a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge.

Goals from Andrew Metcalfe Junior and Gavin Macek saw Easingwold Town defeat Fulford 2-0.

Callum Dunham (2), Luke Barker and Olly Cooper found the net for Barmby Moor in a 4-3 success over Haxby United.

The only game in division three saw South Milford hammer Cawood 7-1.

With division four leaders Bubwith White Swan scheduled for cup action, Malt Shovel made the most of their opportunity to make up ground with a 5-2 success over Pollington.

Brad Hall (2), Ryan Glover (2) and Darren Moore hit the target for Shovel with Brian Robertson and Reece Chapman replying.

Nathan Mason’s goal was Wheldrake’s consolation in a 16-1 defeat against Wetherby Athletic.

Bramham won 2-1 at Crayke thanks to efforts from Alex Gregory and Adam Shaw.
