POCKLINGTON Town 2nds maintained their one point advantage at the top of York Minster Engineering League division one courtesy of a 1-0 victory over fifth placed Harrison Signs.

Andy Anderson scored the only goal of the game with a low drive from 18 yards.

Will Edmond hit four goals for second placed Poppleton United as they scored six without reply against strugglers Cliffe.

Adam Douse and Kevin Luke were also on target for the home side who now need just seven points from their remaining four games to guarantee promotion back to the premier league.

With only four games still to play, meanwhile, the battle for the title looks set to go to the wire.

Tom Collins (2), Josh Gill, Jamie Wheeler and Adrian Wood hit the target for third placed Hemingbrough as they edged a nine goal thriller 5-4 at seventh placed Tockwith.

York St Johns University, meanwhile, defeated mid-table Kirkbymoorside by five goals to two. Chris Rhodes and Sarjo Cham scored for Kirkybmoorside.

Wilberfoss remained four points clear at the top of division two following an impressive 8-0 demolition of Fulford.

Jack Lockwood hit a hat-trick with Alex McCallum (2), Liam Booth, Matthew Wain and Oliver Newby also getting in on the act. Bishopthorpe United lie four points behind in second place after a 3-1 win at Haxby United. Toby Johnson, Andrew Seager, and Nick Gunson were on target.

Easingwold Town scored the only goal of the game to move up to third in the table, defeating hosts Civil Service 1-0.

In division three, goals from Cody Atkin and Akif Kaya gave The Raj, who are fifth, a 2-0 triumph over next-to-bottom Moor Lane.

Joe Cox and Danny Hall netted for Jorvik Blades to give them a 2-1 win over Selby Olympia and move them away from the drop zone.

Leaders Bubwith White Swan won the top of the table clash in division four – defeating second placed Malt Shovel 2-1 to move six points clear at the summit. However, Malt Shovel still have three games in hand in which could enable them to wipe out the deficit. Third placed Huntington FC suffered a 3-0 reversal at sixth placed Bramham whilst Swinton enjoyed a 3-1 home success over next-to-bottom Wheldrake.
