TADCASTER ALBION will donate gate receipts from the club's next home game to the family of Scarborough Athletic chairman David Holland.

The death of Mr Holland after a short battle against illness has shocked the Evo-Stik League and the Brewers' gesture serves to highlight the unity that exists between rival clubs.

A statement on Tadcaster's website said: "Following the sudden death of Scarborough Athletic's chairman David Holland this week, we have decided to donate the gate receipts of our next home game v Ramsbottom United on Saturday 4th March to David's family. Our thoughts and prayers are with David's family, friends, and everyone associated with Scarborough Athletic at this sad time."

Mr Holland, 59, started supporting the former Scarborough Football Club as an eight-year-old in the 1964-65 season. He became involved with the club’s Trust following the winding up of the old club ten years ago and helped in its resurrection as Athletic in June 2007.

Only 10 points currently separate the two clubs in Evo-Stik First Division North although Athletic are chasing play-off qualification and the Brewers are still not safe from relegation.

The Brewers, who have lost just one of their last five games, visit Kendal tomorrow and will be seeking revenge for a 2-1 defeat at home in October.

Manager Billy Miller said: "The game at our place was quite evenly matched but we were in that period where we playing well but not getting results. Now that seems to have shifted and we are picking up results again."

Athletic, meanwhile, travel to Ramsbottom United.

Knaresborough Town host Westella & Willerby in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League first division and Selby Town play Glasshoughton Welfare.
