HEWORTH'S lead at the top of the York Conservative Clubs Faber Shield Billiards League table was cut to one point as they lost 4-2 to second-placed Fulford.
Heworth got off to a good start as Darren Clark came back from 20 points down to make a 39 unfinished break and beat Tom Wilson 150-131.
But Wayne Puleston continued his unbeaten record with a 150-117 victory over Gary Rogers (50 break) to level, and Fulford then went ahead as Terry Ward (49 break) inflicted the first defeat of term on Mark Winskill, 150-52.
Brian Birch equalised by beating Bob Plant 150-86, but Fulford took the last frame and the aggregate point as Dollin Mercer beat Carl De Pasquale 150-101.
Bootham and Acomb fought out a close match which ended 3-3.
Acomb won the first two frames with Paul Holmes beating Matt Smith 150-145 and John Ashwell defeating Alf Appleby 150-129.
Ian Robinson hit back, beating Trevor Ventress 150-112, but Richard Lillie (28 break) held off Paul Mahoney 150-139 to make it 3-1 to Acomb albeit with Bootham one point ahead on the aggregate.
Bootham's Tim Fillingham then beat Mick Borg 150-125 to level the final scores.
Meanwhile, Bob Smith won the Brian Jeffrey Memorial Snooker Trophy for over-50s for a fifth time as he beat fellow Fulford player Phil Cook 74-63 in the final.
Cook had a 15 handicap start and got the better of the early stages but Smith, having struggled to get consistency, came back from 63-38 down with only two reds left to take the rest of the balls in a few visits.
The Acomb pair of Andy Haithwaite and Andy Wade beat Heworth's Roy Walker and David Beattie in the Paul McCready 'C' Team Pairs Snooker final.
