NEW Earswick IBC Falcons fell 89-79 to Featherstone Jets in Yorkshire Over-55s League division one, picking up only two points.
Pat Inwood, Colin Pickup, Mick Head and Bill Waldie got those points.
Aided by a five at the tenth end, they led Jeff Normanton 20-4. The Jets got five back at the next but the Falcons increased the lead to 28-9 after 15 and won 30-16.
Alwyn Anderson, Barry Harrison, Dave Imeson and Tony Abbot dropped a five at the third and trailed 12-3 after seven but fought back to be only 16-13 down with five to play. The Jets notched a five at the 20th, though, and won 26-15.
At Featherstone. Dave Sykes, Dave Elcock, Graham Lockwood and Dick Osguthorpe only scored three singles in the first 11 ends to trail 16-3.
They won five of the next six, including a five and a four, but the hosts hung on for a 22-18 win.
Bob Elliot, Dave Kermode, Eric Cookson and Ralph Tiplady led 10-3 after six ends but only scored three singles at the next 13 and lost 25-16.
Meanwhile, Selby Swans beat New Earswick Ospreys 93-60 in division two, to pick up 11 points to Ospreys' three.
At Earswick, the home rink of John Quinn, Dave Thompson, Ray Mawson and Gary Stockton had an even match against B Smith, with the scores all square at 4-4, 6-6, 9-9 and 13-13. Earswick then picked up two threes and a two to win 21-14.
Club-mates Howard Darrell, Nigel Steels, Dave Moorhouse and Bob Barrett trailed T Quainton 15-7 after 12 ends but won seven of the next eight to go into the last two up, only to drop two for an 18-18 draw.
However, Earswick's away rinks had a nightmare.
Jim Robinson, Vic Wooley, John Taylor and Brian Birch trailed only 9-6 after seven ends despite dropping a six at the fourth. But they only scored a two at the next nine ends to go 24-8 down, J Ward's Selby rink going on to win 24-13.
Dave Hutchinson, Dave Counter, Vic Thompson and Terry Bellwood only scored one single against a free scoring G Whitehead rink to trail 31-1 after 13 ends. The final score was 37-8.
