NEW Earswick IBC picked up only two Yorkshire League division one points as they lost 96-67 to Scarborough.

Dave Clayden, Dave Kermode, Andrew Fothergill and Kevin Liddell started with a four and led 7-5 after eight ends but dropped 12 shots at the next six and Scarborough finished with 11 shots over the last four ends to win 29-13.

Graham Lockwood, Colin Ellis, Colin Pickup and Bill Waldie were 12-12 after 14 ends but Scarborough had the better of the next five ends before Earswick picked up a four to go into the last only two shots behind. They lost 21-18.

On the coast, Bob Elliot, Gordon Fratson, Kevin Fort and Tony Abbot trailed 24-8 after 14 ends. Earswick picked up seven shots at the next three ends but lost 30-15.

Dave Imeson, Dave Elcock, Mick Head and Paul Dawson led 10-5 after ten ends and, although Scarborough regained 13-11 lead with the help of a four, Earswick scored eight shots in three ends and won 21-16.

New Earswick 'B' were hammered 100-44 by Leeds in division two.

At home, Joe Barker, John Snowden, Terry Bellwood and Brian Birch won ten of the first 17 ends but still trailed 14-3. Leeds collected eight shots without reply at the last four ends to win 22-13.

Pat Inwood, Alwyn Anderson, Ken Harrison and Gary Jones were always struggling and lost 29-10.

It was the same for Brian Hutton, Eric Cookson, Graham Bell and Ralph Tiplady away as they lost 22-14, while Paul Murray, Vic Thompson, Barry Harrison and Dick Osguthorpe, after an even start, fell 27-7.

New Earswick also lost 42-22 to Featherstone in the qualifying round of the County Double rinks,

At home, John Harrison, Bob Elliot, Tony Abbot and Bill Waldie led 9-1 after four ends but the strong Featherstone rink took over and only conceded three more singles in the 18-ends match en route to a 21-12 victory.

At Featherstone, Dave Imeson, Dave Elcock, Mick Head and Paul Dawson trailed 9-1 after five. They won seven of the next ten to get back to 15-10 but Featherstone won the last three for a 21-10 victory and comfortable passage to the quarter-finals.

New Earswick Ladies finally got some for the club with a 74-69 Yorkshire Ladies League win over Hornsea, bagging six points.

Margaret Pearson, Kath Hardcastle, Marjorie Watson and Moyra Headley lost 23-11, a five at the 16th end making the score more respectable and proving vital in the aggregate tally.

Lorna Tordoff, Gemma Broadhead, Irene Warrington and Pat Walker took a five at the 15th end to lead 25-5 and, despite conceding a five, won 27-15 win.

At Hornsea, Denise Elliott, Carol Williams, Sally Domville and Norma Davies trailed 8-7 after 12 ends but won six of the last nine including a five to win 19-13.

Moyra Ellis, Annette Prosser, Margaret Morgan and Monika Morgan were 7-7 after 11 ends before falling 16-9 down after 15. They won the next five ends to lead by one but dropped a two at the last to lose 18-17.
