WITH the top two sides in division one out of action, all eyes fell on the match between third-placed Thorpe United and fellow promotion chasers Hemingbrough United in the York Minster Engineering League.

Following a ding-dong game, it was 'Brough who came out on top at home, with two-goal Iain Blackburn and Craig Rowden netting to secure a 3-2 win and move them up to fourth.

Harrison Signs fell two goals behind to Tockwith but efforts from Mark Benton and Adam Osguthorpe levelled the scores in the second half and secured a point for the hosts.

Jordan Bean, Fraser Shields and Connor Pears were all on target for Rawcliffe in a 3-0 triumph at Heslington, while James Grundy struck for Cliffe in a 2-1 home defeat to York St John.

Simon Houlder, Tom Matthews and Olly Newby hit the mark for division two leaders Wilberfoss in a 3-0 success over Stamford Bridge, which ensures that they remain top on goal difference from Barmby Moor.

'Foss still have a game in hand on their rivals as they go in search of their second successive divisional title win. Barmby Moor kept up the pressure with a convincing 7-1 win at Hamilton Panthers, while Bishopthorpe United defeated bottom club Fulford 2-0.

The game of the day in division three was undoubtedly that between Moor Lane and Cawood, who shared ten goals.

Lane took a 1-0 lead through Patryk Zimer before two goals from Matthew Ward and a Darren Davis effort gave Cawood a 3-1 advantage.

Another Zimer effort, plus a goal from Andrew Kenyon, then made it 3-3 before Cawood went clear again with a second goal from Davis and a Jamie Forrest strike.

Michael Walsh and Daniel Zimer then ensured that Lane were in sight of a point, pulling the game back to 5-5 before the home side missed a penalty with the last kick of the game.

Meanwhile, Huby United moved to within three points of leaders Rufforth United following their 6-1 defeat of Howden, with George Jackson (2), Mark Cobb (2), Dylan Henderson and Ewan McNab grabbing the spoils.

The Raj led Selby Olympia 2-1 at half-time through a Cody Atkin brace but three second-half penalties put the Selby side into an insurmountable lead.

A late goal from Jamie Kirby gave The Raj half a chance but Olympia hung on for a 4-3 win.

The top three sides in division four all recorded victories as the battle for promotion continues to heat up.

Bubwith White Swan defeated AFC Crayke 7-2, thanks to efforts from Ryan Sedman, Will Nicholson, Henry Robinson and a netbuster from Roberto Joy.

Second-placed Malt Shovel kept tabs on Bubwith with a 4-1 win over Wheldrake, for whom George Ledley hit the consolation, with Steven Frost, Chris Harkin, Luke Raistrick and Brad Hall collecting the Shovel goals.
