POCKLINGTON Town 2nds stepped up their push for promotion with an impressive victory at Harrison Signs in the York Minster Engineering League division one.

Both Byron Draycott and Jason Nattress were on target for Pock during a 4-1 win that keeps them hot on the heels of leaders Poppleton United. Neil Fryers scored for Harrison Signs.

Poppleton's 9-1 victory over struggling Cliffe ensured they remain nine points clear at the top - although, significantly, they have played three more games than Pocklington. Tom Hogg headed Cliffe's consolation goal.

Thorpe United are in third position after a 5-2 win at Tockwith courtesy of goals from Nathan Parker (2), Adrian Wood, Andy Wilson and Josh Brigham. Hemingbrough enjoyed a 5-2 success over Kirkbymoorside.

The only game in division two saw Bishopthorpe United move three points clear of the drop zone with an unlikely 4-3 win over second placed Barmby Moor.

All the promotion candidates in division three registered wins. Rufforth United beat Jorvik Blades 8-3 thanks to goals from Liam Keenaghan (2), Danny Cates (2), Adam Brooke, Dan Whitcombe, Luke Oxberry and Brodie Doherty. Danny Hall, Joe Cox and Jimmy Mulhearn replied for the Blades.

Dan Marshall (3), John Moore (2) and Jericho Keys netted for Heworth Green in a 6-2 win over Cawood for whom Ward and Darlison were on target. Benny Holding, George Jackson and Mark Cobb found the net for Huby United in a 3-2 win over Selby Olympia.

Bubwith moved three points clear at the top of division four after a 4-3 victory over Pollington.

Adamson and Clapham struck for St Clements in their 2-2 home draw with Swindon.

The two fixtures in Reserve A of the York Minster Engineering League produced plenty of goals.

The local derby between Tadcaster Magnets and Church Fenton White Horse went the way of the home side with Jake Barber, Tom Marshall, Tom Broadbent and Scott Collins finding the net in a 4-3 win.

Wigginton Grasshoppers's clash with Hemingbrough resulted in a 4-4 draw with James Sutton scoring a hat-trick for the home side.

Both Luke Zacharenko and Ricki Hutton notched braces for Hemingbrough before Tom Coates earned a point for Wigginton with a late penalty.

F1 Racing moved six points clear at the top of Reserve B despite initially falling behind at Brooklyn.

Strikes from Ben Calverley and Dan Clubley ensured a 2-1 win for the league leaders.

Second placed Riccall United were beaten 4-2 by Pocklington despite goals from Deller and Healey.

Greg Ashcroft struck for Stamford Bridge in a 2-1 defeat at third-placed Osbaldwick.

Dan Topping and Roy Page bagged for Heslington in a 6-2 home defeat to Haxby United.

Glynn Welsby and Tom Shaw (2) netted for Harrison Signs as they won 3-2 at Tockwith.

In Reserve C, Poppleton United moved three points clear at the top of the table following a 3-1 win at home to Fulford.

Charlie Brooks pulled the strings in a game where Niall Kirby (2) and Charlie Jackson got the all-important goals for Poppy.

Steve Cross gave Rufforth a 1-0 lead over Civil Service but second half goals from Jack Caple and Rob Orr gave the away side a 2-1 advantage.

Rufforth rallied again and goals from Steve Cooper and Callan Langham gave the hosts a much needed three points.
