NEW Earswick Ladies suffered a hammering at home to Doncaster in the North Eastern Ladies.

The South Yorkshire side took all ten points after a 103-45 aggregate victory.

At New Earswick, Linda Tordoff, Jean Cann, Sally Domville and Majorie Watson, having only scored a two at the fifth end, trailed 10-2 after seven ends and this proved crucial.

The two sides matched each other for the next seven with Doncaster leading 17-8 after 16 and, while the Earswick rink had the better of the last five ends, they lost 19-14.

Margaret Pearson, Carol Thompson, Lynn Page and Kath Sykes trailed 8-5 after seven ends and won only three of the remainder to go down 27-11.

At Doncaster, Jackie Toms, Moira Ellis, Moyra Headley and Norma Davies began well, leading 7-6 in a low-scoring start, but thereafter scored only six shots in the last 14 ends, including a three at the last, to go down 20-12.

Doramy Bellwood, Kath Hardcastle, Carol Williams and Monika Morgan won only five of the last 17 ends and dropped a five, three fours and three threes on the way to a 37-8 defeat.

New Earswick again blew a lead in the Yorkshire Over-60s Double Rinks as they lost to Hornsea.

Playing both rinks at home in the 18-ends competition, New Earswick turned an half-way aggregate lead of 15-9 into a 32-24 defeat.

Dave Sykes, Barry Harrison, Ralph Tiplady and Dick Osguthorpe flew out of the blocks, notching a four at the first end and leading 11-1 after eight ends, but then scored only two singles in the last ten ends to draw 13-13.

In the second leg, Graham Lockwood, Alwyn Anderson, Bill Waldie and Tony Abbot scored only one single in the first six ends to trail 6-1. They fought back to 10-7 down after 12 ends but lost the next four ends before picking up a single and three at the last to go down 19-11.
