HUNTINGTON Rovers moved six points clear at the top of the York Minster Engineering League Premier Division after a 7-2 victory over inconsistent Osbaldwick.

With both sides suffering from a lack of regular defenders, goals were always going to be on the cards, and Danny Penrose didn't take long in putting the away side into the lead, opening the scoring after five minutes.

James Edmond levelled shortly afterwards, and the evergreen Chris Dyson fired Rovers into the lead with the half-hour mark approaching.

Jon James then scored either side of a Sam Shipley penalty to make it 4-2 at the interval.

In the second period, Osbaldwick come out firing and quickly earned a second penalty, only to see Chris Barrett save Shipley's effort.

From that moment onwards, it became the Dyson show, with the striker rattling off a second-half hat-trick, the second goal of which was a spectacular 35-yard lob.

Last season's top two were inseparable in their meeting at Mill Lane, with hosts Wigginton and defending champions Old Malton St Mary's earning a point from a goalless draw.

Sporting Knavesmire moved to within two points of second place after strikes from Danny Owers, Tom Williams and George Wilson handed them a 3-1 success over Riccall United, with Harry Brigham replying.

F1 Racing provided a minor shock with a 3-2 defeat of Dringhouses.

The home side stormed ahead with a Dan Hickey goal, which was quickly followed by a stunning strike from Alex Martin.

Hickey followed up with a piledriver of a shot to make it 3-0 at the break, despite the half being evenly contested. In In the second half, resurgent Dringhouses were brought to life by two quick goals but, despite further chances at both ends, F1 saw the match out to record their third consecutive league win.

Tom Settle, Jake Moyse and Robin Bedford struck for Copmanthorpe in a goal-filled 3-3 draw with Dunnington. John Crowley was on target for Tadcaster Magnets but it wasn't enough as Brooklyn gained their first victory of the season, winning 2-1.
