CITY of York men's I aimed to maintain the momentum gained from their previous victory when they welcomed Brooklands II.

The first half was an even affair with York's defensive unit, marshalled by Ollie Couttie and Mike Hugill, holding firm against the Brooklands forward line.

York found the breakthrough late on in the first half when Freddie Heijbroek's shot was saved by the keeper, but Jack Fletcher was on hand to put the ball in the net for his third goal in as many games.

The second half continued in a similar fashion until Brooklands were awarded a penalty corner in the last ten minutes.

They converted this, and then another identical corner to lead 2-1 with just minutes to play.

Then, with two minutes to go, Alex Cockram and Tom Feasby were able to link up on York's right wing.

Feasby was able to break into the circle with some outstanding stick skills and slot past the keeper to level the scores, providing York with a deserved point against a side regularly battling for the league title.
