KYLE Letheren has taken over at the top of The Press Player of the Year standings.

The former Blackpool goalkeeper missed Monday’s 2-1 FA Cup replay defeat at Curzon Ashton with a hip injury, but his performance in last weekend’s first clash between the two clubs earned him our man-of-the-match award.

That accolade saw him collect three points towards the standings, which meant he leapt above long-time leader Aidan Connolly.

Clovis Kamdjo (two) and Simon Heslop (one) were also rewarded with points as The Press’ second and third-highest rated performers respectively.

The two Player of the Month bonus points, available to the man who polled most on-line man-of-the-match votes, went to Letheren too.

That means he now leads the October contest by a massive ten points.

At Curzon, The Press points went to our man-of-the-match Alex Whittle (three), Matt Fry (two) and Luke Simpson (one).

The bonus points were shared between Simpson and Brodie.
