THE top two in division one of the Time Communications York & District Table Tennis League both thrashed their opponents 10-0 this week.

Coneysthorpe 'A' saw off Clarence 'A' to record their fourth whitewash of the season, while York RI 'B' were no match for RI 'A', who remain five points behind the leaders.

It was a busy week for York RI 'C'. Andy Fletcher starred as they edged a close encounter against Clarence 'B' 6-4 but in their second match, although Richard Crowther played well to pick up two wins, a treble from Joel Wright made the difference as they suffered a 6-4 reversal against Coneysthorpe 'B'.

In the second division, Bootham 'B' consolidated their position at the top of the table with a 10-0 whitewashing of Clarence 'C'.

A superb unbeaten effort from an in-form Ryan Hood was not enough to prevent Bootham 'C' from posting their first win of the season with a 7-3 triumph over York RI 'F'.

University 'A' maintained their strong start as they thumped a beleaguered York RI 'G' 10-0.

Ryedale@RI remain top of the third division with Ed Wardman and John Flintoft untroubled in a 7-3 victory over Shepherds 'B'.

German exchange student Clara Bellstedt celebrated her York debut with three wins as she helped Clarence 'E' to a 7-3 win against BT 'A'.

Jan Suchecki starred as Clarence CIU saw off York RI 'H' 8-2 with Paul Greenwood playing well for RI picking up a fine victory over Pete Corner.

BT 'B' needed an unbeaten performance from Jim Stevenson to overcome determined resistance from Wigginton & Haxby 'A' eventually prevailing 6-4 for their first win of the season.

Paul Seeking turned in a man-of-the-match performance as Bootham 'D' earned a 5-5 draw against Clarence 'D'. Yankui Feng and Razvan Ababei recorded trebles as University 'B' eased to a 7-3 victory over South Bank 'A'.

Clarence 'G' remain head of affairs in the fourth division, Trevor D’Arcy-Evans being on top form as they defeated York RI 'J' 7-3, while Mark Antrobus made the difference as York RI 'I' edged a close encounter against Trustmarque 6-4.

In their first-ever competitive fixture, Wigginton & Haxby 'B' had Russ Broadbent to thank as his unbeaten effort allowed them to secure a 5-5 draw against a depleted Bootham 'E' team.

In a tense encounter between Clarence 'F' and South Bank 'B', braces from Russ Scott and Steve Wands were matched by similar efforts from Mich Slezak and Adrian Church with the result being a 5-5 draw.
