HUNTINGTON Rovers put last week's shock setback to Dringhouses behind them as they inflicted a 4-1 defeat on F1 Racing to restore their seven-point cushion at the top of the York Minster Engineering premier league.

Ashley Hill opened the scoring before Dan Hickey notched his first goal for F1 to level matters.

Chris Dyson then made it 2-1 with the last kick of the first half before firing in a spectacular free-kick early in the second period.

F1 looked lively throughout the remainder of the second half but, despite creating chances, they could not find the net, and a late goal from James Edmond rounded off the scoring.

Church Fenton White Horse moved up to third following a 2-1 victory over Malton & Norton, for whom Liam Preston scored.

Sporting Knavesmire got back on track with a 4-1 success at Brooklyn, while Ryan Ferguson and Ethan McPherson struck for Tadcaster Magnets in a 2-0 success over Osbaldwick.

Adrian Wood grabbed the goal-scoring headlines for Thorpe United, hitting half of their goals as they continued their good form in division one with a 10-1 triumph over Cliffe.

Nathan Parker (2), James Barrett, Chris Coxon and Luke Crowther were also on the scoresheet for Thorpe.

Dan Collins had initially put Cliffe in front from the penalty spot after five minutes before they lost a man via a red card a little later on.

Poppleton remain level on points with Thorpe after a 4-2 triumph at Hemingbrough United, for whom Liam Gautry and Luke Zacharenko found the net.

Harrison Signs twice came from behind to defeat Rawcliffe 3-2.

Mark Benton was on target for the home side once again, as was 47-year-old Glyn Welsby, who scored the goal of the game.

Rhys Turbine, who is 17, netted the winner – his first goal for the club.

Adam Stelnach scored for Heslington in a 5-1 home defeat to Pocklington Town, while York St John beat Tockwith 2-1.

In the North Riding County Cup, Kirkbymoorside and Redcar Newmarket played out a titanic 4-4 draw. Kirkbymoorside had led 2-1 at the interval but were pegged back before going on to win 4-2 on penalties.

Liam Robertson gave Dringhouses an early lead at home to Wigginton Grasshoppers with a calmly-taken finish, but Jordan Holt headed Wigginton level just before the break.

'Houses had further chances to take the lead, with Michael Clancy having to be at his best to deny Matty Mulhearn, while Holt made a goal-line clearance, but they could not capitalise and paid the price when Eddy Clapham fired home a low free-kick after 70 minutes.

A late Gary Newton goal secured Wigginton's place in the next round.

In the East Riding Junior County Cup, Pocklington Town Reserves progressed with a 6-0 win over Fulford FC, while Stamford Bridge won 4-2 at home to South Cave.
