CITY of York's under-15 boys secured an excellent bronze medal at the Northern Road Relay Championships in Manchester.
Josh Dickinson had a titanic duel with Tommy Dawson (Leeds City) on the opening 3km leg to put the team in second place, clocking a time of eight minutes 52 seconds to Dawson's 8-50.
The pair's times proved the two fastest on the day before debutants Kieron Dowzer (9-56) and Thomas Hayes (9-53) consolidated York's position to take the bronze.
City of York's U17 boys had to be content with fifth place in their event over 3.3km.
Angus McMillan (9-40) had York fifth after leg one, with Maurice Carlton-Seal (9-53) putting the club into third before Alex Botterill (10-24) secured the top-five finish.
City of York's U15 girls came a creditable eighth in their race over 3km legs.
Martha Carlton-Seal showed the benefits of several park runs in Dalby Forest by bringing the club home in sixth place on the first leg in a time of 10-31. Georgia Neary (11-08) and Holly Moss (11-38) completed the line-up.
Tierney Walsh (11-46) and Kitty Townsend (12.13) ran well in the U13 girls' race, but the lack of a third runner meant York could not complete a team.
