THE Press understands that manager Jackie McNamara did not take York City’s players for training this morning.
According to our sources, the Wigginton Road session was overseen by assistant-manager Simon Donnelly and goalkeeping coach Craig Hinchliffe, but that has not been confirmed by any club official.
Ex-Dundee United chief McNamara was not available to comment on whether he worked with the players today or why he might not have done, whilst it is believed chairman Jason McGill is currently overseas.
McNamara admitted that he would be considering his position in charge of the Minstermen following Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Barrow.
Commenting after the match, he said: “I feel let down because, if it matters to you, you don’t lose your man at a corner, let him get across you and put a header in.
“You don’t do that if you feel the same way as the chairman and I do about the club and that’s something I need to look at in terms of my position, because I’m really disappointed. Players need to understand the importance of these kind of things because, if they don’t, I won’t be here.”
