TOM Corner is confident that his strike partnership with Josh Greening can prove a vital part of Tadcaster Albion thriving in Evo-Stik Division One North.

The Brewers, who were Toolstation Northern Counties East League champions last season, are 11th in the fledgling division, but have also made progress in the Emirates FA Cup as their double act up front has clicked.

Corner, who has scored three goals in his last two outings, and Greening both had a goal and an assist in their come-from-behind 3-2 cup victory over visitors Scarborough Athletic last Saturday, and said: "The partnership comes naturally – we've clicked really well ever since I signed.

"For a goal-scorer like (Josh) is, he's very unselfish, which is a massive attribute.

"We both want to score as many goals as possible but we always look to play each other in, and I'm sure we can do really well together this season."

Corner is also confident that the Brewers, who are at Mossley tomorrow, can have a successful debut campaign at tier eight.

He added: "They're a great squad and a great set of lads – one of the best I've been among.

"It helps so much to have that feeling among the players. It can win you games, like Saturday showed.

"There's been a few new faces this year but they've all fit in really well. The more we are around each other in training and in games it can only get better."

Taddy now travel to Pontefract Collieries in the first qualifying round on September 3, but Pickering Town lost their replay 2-1 at home to Washington on Tuesday, Calum Ward scoring in the 61st minute after the visitors had scored twice in the opening 11 minutes.

The Pikes are at fourth-from-bottom Parkgate tomorrow in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, while, in Division One, Selby Town host Knaresborough Town.
