ADAM Lyth is desperate for success in today's NatWest T20 Blast Finals Day at Edgbaston as he bids to banish the disappointment of missing out in 2012.

Yorkshire have only ever been to Finals Day once before, four years ago at Cardiff, when Lyth was left out of the team by coach Jason Gillespie.

Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Gary Ballance and South African overseas star David Miller were all in the county's top order as they beat Sussex in the semi-final and then lost the final to Hampshire.

That meant Lyth was consigned to a place on the sidelines and he recalled: "I was there as 12th man in 2012 but I missed out, unfortunately, which can happen. But I'll be playing this weekend, which is fantastic.

"I don't think I should have missed out last Finals Day – but that's cricket and that's what can happen.

"But I'll get my chance at Edgbaston and I can't wait. All the boys are the same. It will be a fantastic atmosphere. I've played there a few times in front of packed houses, including for England."

Yorkshire finished third in this season's North Group table to Durham's fourth and the Vikings have won seven out of their last eight Blast matches. They are favourites for this afternoon's semi-final, starting at 2.30pm.

Lyth said: "We're really upbeat and looking forward to getting there. It will be a cracking game and if we can play the type of cricket we have been doing, I'm sure we will turn them over."
