TADCASTER Albion went head-to-head with a talented, young Leeds United side this week – on a night which saw the Brewers' attendance record broken.

An impressive 1,321 supporters packed into the i2i Stadium for the clash, with the always impressive Leeds fans travelling in numbers.

With the Whites' first-team and majority of the U21s just returning from a pre-season tour in Ireland, it was primarily an U18s side that featured.

As expected, Leeds started the contest confidently, passing the ball around crisply.

The visitors came within inches of taking the lead inside ten minutes, but Tom Pearce saw his clipped free-kick hit the underside of the bar and fall into the grateful hands of young stopper Charlie Murphy.

Leeds stopper Bailey Peacock-Farrell failed to punch an Albion corner clear but Jono Greening’s close-range shot was superbly blocked by forward Jack McKay.

Set pieces were looking like Albion's best chance to find the net with Jimmy Beadle heading over the mark on a couple of occasions.

But right on the stroke of half-time Leeds took the lead thanks to one of their trialists, who rifled a thunderbolt into the top corner from 25 yards out.

Into the second half, United squandered a good chance when Jack Shackleton drove forward and timed his through ball to perfection but McKay could only hit the keeper’s legs.

Tadcaster were defending well and looking to carve open Leeds on the counter-attack.

Dan Clayton almost did just that in the 76th minute. A positive run down the wing and cross almost fell perfectly for the on-running Tom Corner but a fantastic recovery from Bobby Kamwa halted the attack.

However, Leeds made it two with ten minutes to go as, at full stretch, Sammy Ammisah impressively guided into the far corner to seal the win.
