YORK City Knights head of coaching James Ford has signed a two-year extension to his current contract.
The deal will see Ford at the helm until the end of the 2019 season.
On the decision to reward Ford, whose Knights' team are preparing for a top-of-the-table clash at Toulouse, managing director John Guildford said: "The extension of his contract will bring stability to the club and enable him to implement longer-term plans and strategies in addition to seeking immediate success. James has been a key part of the organisation for a number of years now and we are all delighted he’s agreed to a contract extension.
"He is one of our most successful coaches and continues to work tirelessly towards our ultimate goals. His reputation in the game is growing and his staff and players enjoy working for him and I know are pleased, like me, that their leader will be around for the foreseeable future.
"We have much to achieve this season as we pass the half-way mark and the challenges grow as we go into the Super 8’s but it's great for all to know that James will continue to spearhead our development."
