FORMER York City Rowing Club ace Tom Ransley has had his selection confirmed for the Great Britain men's eight boat that will compete in next month's Olympics.
Ransley will be part of a strong crew in Rio that includes men's four double Olympic gold-medal winners Andrew T Hodge and Pete Reed.
Ex-University of York student Ransley, meanwhile, won bronze in the eights at London 2012, as did surviving team-mate Matt Langridge and cox Phelan Hill, while Will Satch was third in the pairs' final at the same Games.
Olympic debutants Matt Gotrel, Paul Bennett and Scott Durant have also made the eights' team and all three have been in world gold-medal winning crews or on the world podium in other classes.
Cover will be provided by reserves Nathaniel Reilly O’Donnell and Mat Tarrant, who have world titles to their name too.
The squad will now be focussing on a month of hard training in European-based camps before travelling on to Brazil.
