JAN Dyl helped Rowntree Park stroll to an 11-1 victory over his former David Lloyd team-mates in the Tyke Petroleum Men's Tennis League first division.

He returned 3-25 with Pete Jones, as the league reached its midway point.

Rufforth’s David and Chris Laws held the indomitable Jez Reddish and captain Roger Fawcuss to a draw, while James and Will Edmond took two points and 21 games off the runaway division five leaders.

Wilberfoss closed in on the single promotion place, as Alex Gurnell and Ben Alport managed 3-28 at Strensall.

In division six, Boston Spa 2 hold sway as Steve Lewis and Stuart Kerr triumphed with 3-25 in a big win at Heworth 2.

Robert Taylor and Tim Tillett’s 3-28 won Cawood a tricky tie at ever-improving Pocklington.

Phil Anderson and Alistair Clothier maxed again for visitors Wigginton 4 at Alne and Tollerton 2, but their three points were the only return for their four-handed team.

With no match for Riccall, Alne’s nine points closed the gap on the runaway division seven leaders to a still, sizeable 30 points.

A notable debut from Tom Coop saw him smash 3-26 with Alan Reynolds for Bishopthorpe 2 at York 4.

Up against a full-strength team from leaders Wigginton 3, Alne & Tollerton 1 still managed to return more points, than their second team against four-handed Wigginton 4 in the twin division seven fixture.

Rob Proudley and Matt Fletcher couldn’t be bettered with 2½-28, as Tollerton took over from Wigginton by half-a-point at the top of division eight.

David Lloyd 3 lost just three rubbers, only to miss out on a nail-biter 55-53 at Wilberfoss 2.

Phil Rigby and Rich Doughty were again the Lloyd talismen with 3-23, while Mark Hodge and Aaron Clark’s final round 12-0 pinched Selby a vital win at Dunnington 2.
