WITH leaders Carlton Towers unable to play due to travellers on the pitch, York III and Scarborough II took over the top slots in Hunters York and District Senior Cricket League Ebor division two.

Scarborough II moved top courtesy of a winning draw at Pickering II while York III beat Hemingbrough by 82 runs.

York’s hero was Ben Horseman who scored a century as his side posted 223-10. The visitors were bowled out for 141 after Toby Giddings (3-30) removed their top three batsmen.

James Fletcher fell agonisingly short of a century but his 95 helped Acomb II (237-3) post a stiff challenge for hosts Malton & Old Malton II (165-8). Scott Nicholls also weighed in with 79 for Acomb and took 3-27 in a solid all-round performance.

Londesborough Park (178-10) gleaned 25 points as Heworth II (150-6) were not quite able to chase down their target despite an unbeaten 65 from Graham Hogben.

Andrew Simpson was unbeaten on 72 as Dringhouses (127-1) won by nine wickets at home to Clifton Alliance II (123-6), while Mick Kenyon’s 5-16 took him past 20 wickets for the season.

In Ebor division three, Steve Jackson was unbeaten on 66 as Dunnington II (124-2) knocked off the target set by visitors Cawood (123-8) at Common Road with Jack Spofforth grabbing 4-25 for the hosts.

Copmanthorpe (154-8) left it late to bowl out Selby II (124-10) with Chris Hall weighing in with 6-25.

Civil Service (152-9) hung on for a draw at Goole Town II (160-7). Danny Cooper took 6-27 for Goole.

Pocklington II (198-9) came close to victory at home to Castleford II (170-9), Geoff Woodward claiming 4-34 for the hosts.

Stamford Bridge II (178-9) hung on for a draw after Whitkirk II posted a first innings 188-6 with Andrew Briggs grabbing 4-26.

In Ebor division four, a low-scoring affair at Maypole Gardens saw Cawood II shot out for 58 by Thorp Arch & Boston Spa II as Andy Heaps took 4-5 and Sam Mottershead 3-35. Mottershead scored 33 not out as TABS won by seven wickets.

Paul Johnson (62) inspired North Duffield (108-1) to a nine-wicket win at Woodhouse Grange IV (107) to return them to the top of the table.

Heworth IV 163-10) claimed their first outright win of the campaign as Geoff Toulmin’s 56 enabled them to set a target that Carlton Towers II (159-10) fell just four runs short of despite Phil Sparks' 71.

Kelvin Brook (102no) hit a ton as Drax (237-4) set a stiff target at Bolton Percy II (150-8) but they just failed to bowl out their hosts for a complete win.
