BOARD four produced the best darts of the night as the semi-finalists of the John Smith's Ladies Darts League Elsie Bell Drawn Pairs competition were decided.

Burnholme's Sarah Jackson and Sharon Lyons, of Saddle, eventually booked their last-four spot in the most competitive quarter of the tournament.

In their first match against Heather Bulmer (Jubilee) and Sandra Flintoft (Green Tree), Jackson hit a 174 and closed on 92 to take the game to a deciding leg that Lyons won in a double-one shoot-out.

Linda Penrose (Marcia) and Trees' Kirsty Limbert, meanwhile, overcame Jayne Janes (Tramways) and Alice Turgoose (Clifton) to become Jackson and Lyons' next opponents.

A timely 109 from Jackson proved pivotal in seeing off their rivals, teeing up a board final meeting with Anne Cornthwaite (Marcia) and Babs Harrison (Priory), who had defeated Tramways' Carole Layne and Janet Nelson, of Leeman.

Layne hit a ton to close on 31 in that game, but Cornthwaite and Harrison progressed and also overcame Cara Britton and Wendy Sullivan.

The board final was an anti-climax due to poor finishing before Jackson settled matters with double-five and double-four.

Severus' Dot Sellars and Fulfordgate captain Michelle Britton were the board one winners.

In the first round, they defeated Tramways' Tracey Farmeary and Green Trees' Jackie Young. Farmeary hit 140 and 100 in defeat

Sellars and Britton then knocked out Brenda Dawe (Jubilee) and Charlotte Witts (Leeman), who had overcome Liz Jackson (Saddle) and Jill Reed (Fulfordgate).

In the board final, Karen Alton (Tramways) and Nella Majsteek (Ox) were beaten 2-0, but both games went to the wire, Sellars snatching victory on double 19.

The board two victors were Natalie Farmeary (Tramways) and Sharon Nelson (Saddle).

They saw off Muriel Britton (Fulfordgate) and Jackie Gray (Leeman) 2-1 in round one.

Nelson closed on 48 in the first leg and, in the decider, hit a 54 to leave her partner with a 60 checkout to secure progress.

Their next opponents were Tramways' Jan Wilberham and Burton's Sandra Pallister, who had overcome Barbara Russell (Marcia) and Dawn Clark (Leeman) 2-0.

Farmeary closed the first leg on 82 as Wilberham and Pallister exited the tournament.

A 2-1 triumph over Ruth Norman (Tramways) and Nikki Johnson saw Wendy Storr (Severus) and Linda Turgoose (Clifton) also reach the board final.

Farmeary won two successive legs on double five and 14 to book a semi spot.

Burnholme's Sharon Neads and Linda Staveley (Ox) won board three, after beating Burnholme's Jane Dobson and Cris Turgoose in their opener, then Debbie Witts (Leeman) and Tramways' Beth Reintoul .

Marcia's Faye Hawksby and Saddle's Vicky McLaren awaited them in the final after they defeated Angie Kaya (Severus) and Susan Barker (Burton) 2-1, then Tina Platt (Tramways) and Margaret Forth (Green Tree) 2-0.

Neads threw the winning dart to secure the semi place.

Meanwhile, in White Rose Ladies Dart League division one, New York took the first six games to see off Ebor, Maureen Tindall throwing a 120. Roz Kerr got Ebor's sole riposte.

Crescent 'B's Val Mackenzie (100) and Liza Moore (100) helped their side beat Clarence, while Punch Bowl won 5-2 at Acomb Sport, Toni Smallwood (140, 100), Debbie Benson (100) and Christine Hedley in the tons.

In division two, Clarence saw off Crescent 'A' 6-1, Jayne Cain (116) and Val Lumby (101) throwing well.

Yvonne Wrist threw 100 in the triples for Lord Collingwood but they lost that opening game to Marcia's June Mallory-Bev Hill-Julie Coyle.

Marcia's Jill Clapham also threw a ton in victory, and, with the scores at 3-3, team-mate Bev Hill won the decider.
