LEE GREENWOOD admits his University of Gloucestershire All Golds are massive underdogs for Sunday's iPro Sport Cup semi-final - and has warned his side they face a walloping from York City Knights unless they hit peak form.

The All Golds' website says the Bootham Crescent tie is "arguably the biggest game in the club’s short history and their first genuine chance of silverware" since joining the pro rugby league ranks in 2013.

But head coach Greenwood, the former Sheffield, Halifax, London Broncos, Huddersfield and England winger, says they must play out of their skins to shock a Knights team who are the last remaining side with a 100 per cent record in League One.

They do, however, have nothing to lose - and past history of shocking the Minster city men.

"We just need to worry about our own errors because if we make as many as we have done recently then it’s going to be a very heavy defeat," he said.

"But if we can cut them out then we can give ourselves a chance.

"It’s quite simple, we need to stop the silly mistakes. We’re giving away far too many penalties and making too many mistakes.

"Defensively we were better last week but we’ll need to improve against York. They’re beating everyone pretty comfortably.

"It’s going to be a big test but we’ve got nothing to lose.”

In the two sides' five meetings to date, York have won four relatively comfortably but Gloucestershire triumphed 24-22 on their own turf in 2014 - one of few expansion club victories over traditional teams.

The Cheltenham-based expansion club, in contrast to York's League One record this term, have won only one in six, although their best form so far has come in knockout rugby - with a shock Challenge Cup win over North Wales Crusaders adding to victories over Coventry and, in another surprise, Newcastle Thunder in the iPro Sport Cup.

The All Golds lost 21-18 to Thunder in the league last week.

Greenwood - who spent four seasons as assistant-coach at Batley and Halifax before taking over at the Prince of Wales Stadium 18 months ago - added: “It was very similar to other performances where we just make too many errors and give too many penalties.

"It was a scrappy affair but they got the two points so well done to them.

“We’re huge underdogs (tomorrow), so we’ll go there with absolutely nothing to lose."

Greenwood will be without long-term crocks Graham O’Keeffe and former Knights second-row Aaron Lyons tomorrow, although Australian half-back Brendon Newton could be back having missed the last three games.

Ticket prices are £15 for adults, £12 for concessions and students, and £6 for under-16s.

In the other semi-final, Keighley Cougars travel to in-form London Skolars.
