WATCHING Jason McGill’s interview featured on Calendar on Friday night, he made the statement that certain players had not given their all for the club.
Surely that is part of the job that the manager has to do; getting players to perform, which Jackie McNamara has plainly failed to do, hence we are looking forward to Conference football next season.
Mr McGill has done so much for York City, which I’m sure all true supporters are grateful for.
His statement a few weeks ago mentioned wanting to progress reserve sides and academy players so that we didn’t struggle as a club.
That would surely have been better done staying in the Football League with the money that produces, than appointing a manager who had no experience of the English leagues and was allowed to experiment with the make-up of our teams to the detriment of results and ultimately the club?
What will happen next season if McNamara has us in the bottom half of the division? Will the new found principles be abandoned?
After over 50 years as a supporter, I will be voting with my feet.
This appointment was definitely not the board’s finest hour.
